The seminar Raum-Klang-Labor hold in spring semester 2011 brought together students of architecture and students of music. It has been developed in a collaboration of the ILA Chair of Landscape Architecture Christophe Girot with the Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST) of the ZHdK. The aim of the seminar was to understand sound as a primary element of the spatial structure as well as of the perceptual quality of a landscape. Therefor the vis à vis of the listening and the looking experience of landscape was a crucial approach.
As a field example we investigated the lake basin of Zurich. Intensive on-site observation and collection of material using microphones and video camera were finally worked in conceptual and creative études.
