Design Studio FS12 | The Arcadian Thames

The Arcadian Thames Studio is run by Guest Professor Eelco Hooftman and acts as a laboratory to develop new ideas & concepts for Arcadia in the 21st century. By studying various sites along the river Thames, the students are invited to produce a new manifesto for Arcadia and select a site-specific project to act as catalyst for change. Storm water management and flood control will play a major role.

Elective | LandscapeTheory

In the spring semester of 2012 the elective Landscape Theory and Landscape Design with the title ‘Plattengrün’ will be dedicated to taking a closer look at the so-called Göhner housing developments. These prefabricated housing developments carry the name of the well-known building contractor from Zurich, Ernst Göhner, recognized as a pioneer in the serial production of windows and flooring but also prefabricated housing.

The elective course (Wahlfach) and the thesis (Wahlfacharbeit) of the coming term will examine the space between the apartment blocks as element of the suburban landscape. What is our sensual experience in these in-between spaces? How can we summon and translate the things we hear, see, smell and feel - in brief our aesthetic experience - in a filmic montage?

Seminar Week | LandscapeAudio

Landschaft kann man nicht nur sehen sondern auch hören. In einer weiteren Zusammenarbeit(*) mit dem Institut für Computermusik und Soundtechnologie (ICST) der ZHdK befassen wir uns mit Klang als grundlegendem Element der räumlichen Struktur und Wahrnehmungsqualität einer Landschaft. Im Zentrum der Seminarwoche im Frühjahrssemester 2012 steht die gestalterische Auseinandersetzung mit der akustischen Qualität des öffentlichen Raumes am Seeufer der Stadt Zürich.

MAS LA 2012-2013 | Landscape Architecture Design Simulation

The focus of the MAS LA is on the use of the latest modeling and visualization possibilities as well as the 3D illustration of landscape architecture.
The course of studies is intended to be completed part-time over two semesters and is divided into 7 theme modules and 1 concluding thesis module. The modular structure allows a concentration on individual themes, which can be combined within the framework of an individual project as the concluding thesis module. Outlook to the current MAS LA schedule.
